Indigenous Women Entrepreneurs Gift Guide

Publication design for a gift guide featuring 20 Indigenous women owned businesses launching for National Indigenous Peoples Month.

Context

The Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub (WEKH) is a network of regional hubs as well as an Indigenous hub. It aims to increase women entrepreneurs’ access to financing, talent, networks and expertise. The Indigenous hub specifically aims to bolster Indigenous owned business. For National Indigenous Peoples Month the WEKH Indigenous hub wanted to do a gift guide to highlight Indigenous women owned businesses.

Design Process

  • Established project parameters and timelines while adhering to WEKH brand guidelines, and advised on word-counts, image and logo sizing, etc, while working in collaboration with the WEKH Indigenous hub.
  • Selected layouts which created a dynamic flow within the guide and maximized the impact of the product imagery, placing a design emphasis on the diversity of the businesses.
  • Ensured consistency in product descriptions by working directly with a copyeditor.

Solution and Results

  • English and French versions of the guide, 18 pages (digital version) or 20 pages (print version), featuring 20 Indigenous women owned businesses.
  • Two versions of digital graphics to accompany and the guide’s sharing on social media and in newsletters.
  • Over 700 website page views and over 250 individual guide downloads.
  • Feedback from partners was excellent and a follow-up guide was requested.
